Managed Objects Tosses Out Lifeline to Mercury Customers
- By Jon William Toigo, Enterprise Systems

Managed Objects hopes to capitalize on the management changes at Mercury Interactive
with its Lifeline Program, which aims to provide an alternative to Mercury customers
who use that company’s solutions for business availability and business
service management.
Through the Lifeline Program, Mercury customers seeking business availability
and broader BSM solutions get an attractive product license exchange offer,
Managed Objects claims. The Lifeline Program seeks to exchange annual maintenance
contracts for comparable licenses of Managed Objects' business service management
solutions.
In addition, Managed Objects will provide at no cost 2 days’ worth of
consultation to figure out a migration plan from Mercury to Managed Objects
solutions. Customers can then choose to leverage the skills of Managed Objects'
professional services organization for a fee. The Lifeline Program's free assessment
offer expires March 31, 2006. For more information on the Mercury Lifeline Program,

Managed Objects BSM architecture views servers, applications and networks as
interrelated elements forming business service configurations that collectively
deliver IT services crucial for business operations, according to the company.
This enables IT services delivered to the business, such as e-mail, supply chain
or online trading, to be monitored, managed, measured and communicated holistically
and thereby more effectively. Whether clients need to find and resolve availability
and/or performance problems, improve response time, manage the impact of change
or report service-level metrics to the business, BSM enables Mercury customers
to bridge from an application perspective to managed end-to-end service delivery.
