SAP and Teradata have announced an alliance to provide high-volume data analysis applications based on information from ERP installations.
The companies will deliver enterprise analytic solutions to a targeted group of high data-volume industries, said Glenn Wada, senior vice president of alliances, SAP America Inc. The initial targets will be telecommunications, financial services -- banking and insurance -- pharmaceuticals, and travel and transportation markets.
Observers note that such alliances between ERP and database vendors are part of a growing trend.
Under the agreement that makes Teradata an SAP Global Technology Partner, the division of Dayton, Ohio-based NCR will work with customers to develop industry-specific analytics applications to make use of the information available from ERP systems, Wada explained. The two companies will jointly market two SAP products -- SAP Business Information Warehouse (SAP BW) and SAP Business Intelligence (SAP BI).
