webMethods unrolls Integration Platform
webMethods Inc., Fairfax, Va., recently unveiled Version 6 of its webMethods Integration Platform. Touted as a comprehensive, enterprise-capable integration platform, webMethods 6 includes publish-and-subscribe and message queuing capabilities, as well as an embedded JBoss Java application server.
webMethods selected the JBoss application server after discovering that its customers did not want to work hard to build integration logic in one place and business logic using some other tool in another place, acknowledged Scott Opitz, webMethods' senior vice president of marketing.
Because JBoss is open source, it allows webMethods to seamlessly tie it together with its integration system. ''Our customers want to build business logic using Java tools, but [they want to] build application logic using webMethods tools,'' noted Opitz.
