[PROGRAMMERS REPORT, OCTOBER 22, 2002] -- GemStone Systems Inc. has announced the integration of its GemStone CMP
(Container Managed Persistence) accelerator with the open source JBoss
application server. The GemStone CMP Accelerator is a shared transactional Java
workspace that provides caching, clustering and object persistence capabilities
... Microsoft Corp. continues to promote the Open Financial Exchange (OFX) as an
XML-enabled means for downloading account information, including mutual fund
balances, individual security positions and transaction activity. The company
announced an agreement with mutual fund giant The Vanguard Group Inc. to provide
account information to consumers via the XML-compliant version of the OFX
specification. Money is the target ... Borland Corp. said it intends to buy
software life-cycle tool provider Starbase Corp. for $24 million in cash.
Borland has also agreed to make $2 million in financing available to Starbase to
fund its operations until the transaction is completed.
