Iona Technologies turned to outsider and veteran technology executive Steve
Tisch to take over as chief operating officer. Fisch was previously chief
executive of Virtual Access Networks and had earlier held executive posts at
Attunity, ISG, and the former Computervision, Prime Computer and McDonnell
Douglas Information Systems high-tech pioneers.
In his new post, Fisch is responsible for Iona's operating functions, which
include the firm's engineering, customer services, sales, global services,
global alliances, product management and marketing operations.
Iona Chief Executive Barry Morris said he expects the new executive to help
improve the execution and streamlining of the firm's business plan, ''the key
component of my plan to return IONA to profitable growth. Steve's primary role
at IONA is to streamline and focus our business by making the changes needed to
become a leaner, more agile and profitable company.''
Fisch said Iona has ''begun making the changes needed to improve productivity
in all areas of our business and to expand market utilization'' of the firm's
offerings.
