FineGround accelerates Web page generation

FineGround Networks Inc. has unveiled the Condenser Application Acceleration
Suite 4.0 for speeding page generation of Web applications. The system is based
on adaptive dynamic cache technology. Its goal is to speed performance in newly
built collaborative applications that users criticize as too slow to be usable.
The solution improves server system scalability by fulfilling requests for
dynamic content using a caching architecture and, in turn, offloading application
servers and databases.
"There are a lot of factors that slow down performance," said Zack
Urlocker, vice president of marketing. "A lot of the solutions don't do
anything for the applications you have today. We said 'Let's speed up what's
out there without rewriting applications.'"
The new release builds on the product's established capabilities as a delivery
engine. It follows recent word from FineGround that it has forged a deal with
IBM to speed performance of key J2EE applications on WebSphere. As well, the
company said Sun Microsystems is using the Condenser in-house for its MYSales
employee sales portal.
