Innovation is fundamental to success in business. And
with innovation comes risk. Each year, the editors at Application Development
Trends and a team of consultants from Keane
Inc., a Boston-based integration, and consulting firm, honor I/S organizations
and developers for taking a risk to build an application that brought
a competitive advantage.
In this fourth annual Innovator Awards issue, we recognize and profile
the winning entries and several runners up in seven categories of development.
The 1998 competition attracted well over twice the number of submissions
from I/S organizations ever attracted by the magazine. Bill Champitto,
manager of emerging technologies at Keane, noted that for his team, "it
was very inspiring to see the types of quality, innovative development
efforts underway in today's I/S shops."
The judges at ADT and Keane thank all the readers who took part
in the competition and say that we're looking forward to reviewing even
more innovative projects next year.
