Compuware Ups Support for Viz Studio ’05 and Eclipse

Compuware said on Monday it will introduce a new version of Compuware DevPartner Studio that will integrate with Microsoft’s Visual Studio 2005 IDE. The company also said it will become an Eclipse Foundation Strategic Developer.

DevPartner Studio 8.0 will offer enhanced support for Web services, a new Performance Expert feature and error-simulation capabilities. In addition, Compuware will introduce a new release of DevPartner Fault Simulator that will integrate with DevPartner Studio, giving developers the ability to gather code coverage data for error handlers exercised with fault simulation. Early in 2006, Compuware says it plans to release the next version of its security analysis tool, DevPartner SecurityChecker, with support for Visual Studio 2005.

As an Eclipse Strategic Developer, Compuware will focus on app lifecycle integration and tool interoperability and dedicate resources to the Eclipse Application Lifecycle Framework project, the company says.

Compuware will contribute resources--including developers and integration technology--to Eclipse and has committed to leading an Eclipse project in the near future, the company says. These contributions are in addition to Compuware development resources already integrating Eclipse technologies into Compuware products, as well as additional product integrations planned for the future.

With the release of OptimalJ 4.0, Compuware announced its plan to bring the productivity benefits of pragmatic Model Driven Architecture to Eclipse users by bringing the three role-based editions of OptimalJ to Eclipse, according to Compuware. OptimalJ now includes a new Developer Edition built on Eclipse, and the company’s plans are to release a Professional Edition built on Eclipse next year. Compuware DevPartner, Java Edition, also supports Eclipse-based development.
