Agile development and testing is all about moving quickly and being more efficient. Focused iterations, limited documentation, integrated testing, small teams and SCRUMs are all hallmarks of Agile. But once you master Agile, then what? Have you reached maximum efficiency? Is there nowhere to go from there? Not necessarily.
Some teams are beginning to embrace practices that go beyond Agile. These practices shrink teams even more, emphasize continuous testing and do away almost entirely with documentation and meetings. Agile development has its share of scary aspects that go hand-in-hand with its rewarding features. Recognizing the challenges – and their positive counterparts – of Agile will help teams become more comfortable with the process and eventually move into the hyper-efficient world of “beyond Agile.”
