Sunnyvale, Calif.-based whiteCryption this week announced  Cryptanium Code Protection for Java, designed to allow enterprise developers to harden Java-based mobile applications.
Features of the software -- scheduled to be released in Q2 of this year -- include code obfuscation, root detection, anti-debug, binary packing and integrity protection. Aside from protecting from data theft and other malicious attacks, it also protects developers from reverse engineering.
Already available for C, C++, and Objective-C, Cryptanium Code Protection works by applying "integrated protection mechanism to the entire application code at different layers," according to the company data sheet (PDF). "With minimal changes to the original source code....Code Protection obfuscates the code base using patented obfuscation algorithms, injects hundreds of overlapping integrity checkers, and embeds platform-specific anti-bug, anti-piracy and anti-malware code."
In its announcement of the new product, whiteCryption Thorston Held commented: "Poorly protected Java apps are exposed to theft of sensitive data, reverse engineering and malicious attacks that can result in angry customers and loss of revenue...Cryptanium Code Protection for Java is a tool that can lower the risk of attack and improve the business prospects for Java mobile applications."
More information on the coming application can be found here.
